New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS) Flight operations to and from Kolkata was severely affected Tuesday as private airlines cancelled 129 flights due to the nation-wide strike against price rise called by central trade unions.

The country's largest private airline, Jet Airways, and its low-cost subsidiary, Jetlite, have cancelled or postponed around 70 flights, including one international flight to Bankok.

The second largest private airline, Kingfisher Airlines, also cancelled 29 flights, including one international flight to Dhaka.

'Guests are requested to note that there would be no transportation available to and from Kolkata airport while the bandh is in force,' Kingfisher said in a statement.

Kingfisher also rescheduled two flights from Bangalore and Hyderabad, which will now fly Wednesday.

Jet has preponed its Kolkata-Dhaka flight (9W-274) and postponed the Dhaka-Kolkata flight (9W-273) till Wednesday.

Budget carrier Spicejet also said it has cancelled around 29 flights to and from the city.

However, state-run Air India said all its flight to Kolkata are operational.
