New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS) After a spell of heavy rain in the morning, it was again a day of hot humid weather in the capital Monday as the maximum humidity touched 100 percent.

However, there may be some relief with the weatherman predicting more rains Tuesday.

'Skies will remain cloudy and parts of the city may witness thundershowers,' said an official of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum and minimum temperature were recored at 33 and 24.7 degree Celsius, both a notch below average for this time of the season.

Delhi recorder 18 mm of rainfall till 5.30 p.m. Monday. The morning showers caused waterlogging in the low lying areas of the city. As a result serpentine queues of traffic could be seen on various major roads.

The traffic movement was particularly slow at the Qutub Metro Station, Aurobindo Marg, a major arterial road in south Delhi, and Badarpur road, which connects Delhi to Faridabad, and Dhaula Kuan among others, according to Delhi Traffic Police.

In the last 24 hours alone, the central control room of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) today received 43 complaints of water logging, 10 complaints of trees or portions of them falling and 2 complaints of falling of building portions.

Trees were uprooted and fell, hampering the normal traffic flow of the city, at several places causing further disruptions in traffic movement.

The maximum temperature for Tuesday is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum at a comfortable 25 degrees Celsius, the weatherman added.

The rainfall in the city has touched a peak of 800.6 this season, which is a a good 42 percent above average. August alone has witnessed 456 mm of rainfall, which is 101 percent above the usual.
