New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS) The Supreme Court Monday stayed the death sentence of the three men who were given death sentence for attacking Akshardham temple in Ahmedabad in 2002.

The sentence was stayed by the apex court bench of Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy and Justice S. Nijjar.

The court also issued notice to the Gujarat government on their petition seeking that their death sentence be quashed. The petitioners sought re-investigation of their case by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Besides the three, the court has also stayed the life imprisonment of one convict and 10-year-imprisonment given to other convict in the same case.
