New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS) With less than a month left for the Commonwealth Games, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Sunday said the capital is well-prepared to host the Games but needs a sense of discipline and dedication, particularly from students, for the success of the mega-event.

Addressing a gathering here on Teacher's Day, Dikshit exhorted the teachers to instill good habits and civic sense in students as she said it was required during the Oct 3-14 Games.

Taking on the critics, she said complaints about the poor condition at Games venues and stadia was okay, but the sporting spirit, the welcoming spirit, the smiling spirit, the dignified spirit and the cultured spirit were equally important.

The Delhi government and the Games organising committee have received the maximum flak following allegations of corruption in the Games projects as well as its delays.

Dikshit gave the 'State Award' to 75 outstanding teachers of Delhi, including 15 sports teachers, on the occasion.

She said that teachers here with their outstanding contribution and sincerity have made school education in the city a role model for other states.

She also emphasised on the importance of introducing extracurricular activities in school curriculum.

'We need to incorporate extracurricular activities like sports in our curriculum apart from just teaching students how to read and write,' she said.
