Naa Style Veeru

Starring: Rajashekar, Bhumika, Ali, Brahmanandam and others

Director: Ram Prasad

Music: Anup Rubens

Release date: 12 June 2009

Rajashekar comes up with a new film after Satyameva Jayathe. The new film Naa Style Veeru showcases Rajashekar as a lawyer. Bhumika plays the daughter of a rich industrialist whose life is in danger. How the hero saves her life is the story.

Story:

Sivaram (Rajashekar) is a lawyer and he lives with his parents and elder brother and his family. Rajashekar is seen all the time drinking with his close buddy Ali at a bar or some road side dhaba. He is also shown abusing his parents and his elder brother all the time. There is a flashback. Rajashekar wanted to marry a girl on compassionate grounds after her brother is killed by an MLA. Rajashekar’s parents and brother object to this and lock him up in a room when he is about to go out and marry her.

The girl is dead the next moment. Rajashekar blames his parents for her death as he feels that she committed suicide as he did not marry her as promised. Parvathi (Bhumika) is the daughter of a rich industrialist. When her father goes to the US fro treatment someone from her own family hatches a conspiracy to kill her. She is kidnapped and locked up in a room.

Parvathi calls up a number in desperation and it is Sivaram at the other end. She pleads with him to rescue her. Sivaram takes her to his home and she slowly starts to mingle with the family of Sivaram. At this point, Sivaram is caught in a web weaved by a member of Parvathi’s family. Sivaram is charged with double murder and kidnapping and extortion.

The rest of the story is how Sivaram unravels the murder mystery and finally bring the culprit to book. In the process he also wins the heart of Parvathi.

Performance:

Rajashekar is known to portray the role of an angry young man in all his films. This time too he plays a similar role but it is a bit subdued in comparison to his the films. He does a decent job. Bhumika is now married but she has not lost her charm and appeal. She also looks very fit. Bhumika manages to dominate Rajashekar for a major part of the movie. The rest of the star cast, from Ahuthi Prasad to Devaraj, Banerjee, Jeeva, Chalapathi Rao, Annapurna and others play largely guest roles.

Brahmanandam’s comedy is routine and Venu Madhav also fails to evoke much laughter. It is only Ali as a guy with a slightly deformed leg who manages to make people laugh. Music is okay.

The story is old fashioned and the screenplay is far too confusing and this affects the pace of the film. Naa Style Veeru is a routine film of family sentiment, greed and a family member who is ready to kill members of his own family in order to grab the property.

The film does not have many commercial aspects and Bhumika is the only crowd pulling factor. The film stands little chance at the box office.
