Kavya’s Diary

Starring: Charmy, Manjula, Sashank, Indrajit and others

Director: Karuna Prakash

Music: Manu Ramesan

Release date: 05 May 2009

The film Kavya’s Diary is an offbeat film in the sense it is an unconventional mix of family drama with crime and murder.

Story:

Pooja (Manjula) and Raj (Indrajit) is a loving couple who have a cute daughter and an infant son. Theirs is one happy family. Enter Kavya (Charmy) an innocent looking ravishing beauty. She has lost her job in a BPO and she gets an offer to look after the young baby. Charmy accepts the job offer. Life slowly begins to turn for the worse for the Raj family. Raj’s brother Sashank who has come for Diwali falls in love with Kavya. Just when everything is expected to go nicely, Sashank dies in a road accident. Is it a case of hit and run? Or was Sashank murdered. If so, who did it and why?

We slowly learn the answers in the flashback. Charmy is the wife of a gynecologist. This guy is a pervert and he molests the patients who come to him. Manjula is one such woman who goes to him for a medical check up in advanced stage of pregnancy. He molests her and Manjula promptly files a case against him. After this, the other women who have been molested by the doctor also start filing complaints. The doctor commits suicide and his wife Charmy who is pregnant, loses the baby due to shock and her uterus is also removed and she cannot become a mother again.

Charmy wants to take revenge. So she enters the Raj household and slowly starts gaining their trust. She also starts breast feeding the baby and treats the baby as her own. Her goal is to kill Manjula and marry Raj and live happily with the kids.

Will Charmy succeed in her evil mission? To known this you have to watch the movie on the screen.

Performance:

The film revolves around Charmy for most part. She comes up trumps. She plays both the innocent girl as well as the lady out to take revenge roles to perfection. Manjula is more than adequate in her role and she comes up with a convincing performance. Sashank’s role is brief but effective. Indrajit and Satyam Rajesh are okay in their roles.

The music is okay and the cinematography is good.  The film Kavya’s Diary is a horror film but the director fails to keep up the tempo in the horror scenes. The film will appeal only to those who like suspense and horror films. This makes its appeal very limited.
