Release Date: 08 May 2009

Ravi Teja and Ileana pair up once again after Khatarnak. This time though they do manage to come up with a much output. Kick is a typical Ravi Teja style entertainer with enough comedy to keep the audience breaking into laughter every now and then.

Story:

The story is all about the life of the Hero. Kalyan (Ravi Teja) is an engineering graduate. But he never sticks to one job and keep quitting one after the other as he does not get enough ‘Kick’ in them. The hero meets the heroine (Ileana) in rather strange situation – the heroine’s friends run away from home to get married to her car driver.

The car driver Venu Madhav is a friend of Ravi Teja. But Ravi Teja informs the plans of the elopement and mirage to the girl’s mother and says that unless there is some tension and drama, there will not be any ‘Kick’ in eloping and getting married.

Ileana initially hates Ravi Teja but slowly falls in love with him. But after they date for about a month, Ileana leaves Ravi Teja as he has quit his job once again and kept this a secret from her all these days.

Ileana goes off to Malaysia and her parents arrange a match for her. The boy is Syam, a big police officer. During the course of their introduction, they both narrate about their past. Ileana tells Syam about her failed love affair. Syam also tells Ileana about a robber who has been evading arrest in his hands.

While Syam is in hot pursuit of Ravi Teja, Ileana spots him in Malaysia. But Ravi Teja acts a if h has lost his memory and is undergoing treatment in Malaysia. Ileana who hates Ravi Teja wants to take revenge on him by marrying Syam in front of his eyes.

The real game starts now as Ravi Teja, Ileana, Syam and even Brahmanandam have their own scores to settle. The audience is kept in suspense as to why Ravi Teja turns into a robber and loots crores of rupees from ministers, MLAs and rich businessmen.

The film then slowly winds its way to the climax with the director trying to give enough justification to robber character of Ravi Teja.

Performance:

Ravi Teja gets to play an ebullient and carefree character and he is by now quite an expert having portrayed such roles in film after film. The role suits Ravi Teja to a ‘T’ and he does justice to it. The sexy Ileana makes a com back after a long gap. She is still as sexy as ever and the director exploits her charm and sex appeal to the hilt. Tmil actor Syam is okay in the role of a cop.

Brahmanandam does his trademark comedy in the film. Ali as a memory loss patient acting as a doctor raises some laughs. Jayaprakash Reddy plays a cop and he also is used more as a comedian. Yesteryear heroine Prabha makes a comeback after a very long gap. Sayaji Shinde plays Ravi Teja’s father in the film and he does a neat job in his rather brief role.

To sum up, Kick is a racy entertainer with all necessary ingredients like romance, comedy, sentiment and action. Still, it falls short in some ways and ends up as an average entertainer.
