Adhineta is a film that looks at the present political system and how it needs to be changed radically. Jagapathi Babu plays a common man turned politician and it is his acting that manages to hold the audiences interest in an otherwise largely routine formulaic film.

Story:

Suribabu (Jagapathi Babu) is from a humble background. His parents seek the help of the local legislator, Sriramulu (Paruchuri Gopalakrishna) to get him a job so that he can settle down in life. Suribabu gets a job in the CM’s peshi as the assistant of the CM. Ahuthi Prasad is the chief minister.

Suribabu does a lot of good to the people by responding the letters of help written by the poor and needy to the chief minister. When MLA Sriramulu tries to expose the misdeeds of the CM, he finisher off the MLA and passes it off as a accident. Suribabu finally is forced to contest as an independent MLA and he manages to win in the election.

As both the ruling party and the main opposition fail to get a clear majority, the 25 newly elected independents hold the key to government formation. But Sriramulu’s widow sets a condition for government formation. The ex-cm should back Suribabu as chief minister. He reluctantly agrees as he knows that he can destabilize him after some time.

Suribabu is sworn in as CM and the first file he signs is for giving Minimum Support Price for farmers. Suribabu slowly tries to set things right one by one but a impatient former chief minister Ahuthi Prasad implicates him in a murder case and he is jailed.

How Suribabu proves his innocence and comes out of jail and teaches a lesson to the evil chief minister and his goons forms the basis for the remaining part of the story.

Performance:

The film runs for most part on Jagapathi Babu. He makes the character of an ordinary man rising to the post of chief minister believable. He is a big asset for the film. Ahuthi Prasad plays the role of the chief minister but he is largely subdued. He fails to sparkle in his role. The two heroines, Sraddha Das and Hamsa Nandini play what can be termed as guest roles.

Of the two, Sraddha plays a deglamorized and homely role of a medical student while Hamsa plays a glamorous cop. Hamsa also sizzles in a raunchy song with Jagapathi Babu on the beach. The rest of the actors from Chalapathi Rao, Annapurna, Krishna Bhagawan, Sivaparvathi, Uttej and others are okay in their roles.

Music is average. The direction is average and the film runs at a very slow pace and makes the audience impatient at times. There is nothing new or novel in the film except from a few indirect references to the new political party launched by Chiranjeevi.

As a result, Adhineta turns out to be just another film with a political backdrop and its appeal is also quite limited.
